Who do we spend most of our time with?

It is said that you have to look at where you say you want to be and then look at the people whom you spend most of your time with.

If they are at where you want to be (or aspire to be) then, by all means, stick with them

On the other hand, if they are not, or worst, they are where you don't want to be, then you need to re-evaluate your place with them.

Like attract like. If u aspire to a higher plane but you are surrounded by ppl on lower plane, it is very difficult to fly. In fact, it is likely that u will be pulled down.

The reverse is true if u are surrounded by ppl on a higher plane that u aspire to be at. They will inadvertently pull you up.

But of course, in every instance there is free will. You can choose to stick around lower plane while aspiring for a higher plane (like a Boddhisattva). But it's gonna be tough.
This applies to all aspects of life. In fact if moving away from the group you r with (eg: extended family) is difficult, then u jolly well need to tie up with a higher group so that u remain charged in order to climb, coz the lower group is gonna keep pulling u down and sucking u dry
